The Population Research Group (PRG) at the University of Victoria
is an interdisciplinary group of scholars drawn from anthropology,
economics, geography, history, mathematics and statistics, pacific
and Asian studies,
and
sociology. It is devoted to promoting research and training in
demography and population studies. Coming from a wide variety
of disciplines, associated faculty and their students have a
varied set of research interests
including aging,
health and HIV/AIDS, historical demography, immigration, family
and household, fertility and contraception, and mathematical
modeling.
The Group is formally established as an officially recognized research
group on campus. As such it functions as under the aegis of
the Vice-President Research. The director of the group
is Zheng Wu. Barry Edmonstron is the assocaite director.
