Dr. Thomas Burch is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sociology. Before coming to the University of Victoria, Thomas Burch was associated with the University of Western Ontario. He has strong interest in the methodology of the social sciences.





Thomas Burch’s main current research interests are:

  • Explaining below-replacement fertility in Canada
  • Developing the philosophy of science especially in the field of demography but also in other quantitative social sciences
  • Developing methods for getting computer modeling into the standard social science curriculum
  • Retrospective study of divorce in Canada
  • Coasts Under Stress II Project
